New Creations

Well it been a few weeks since I last did one of these but then due to one thing and another I was not at my craft last week and unable to collect my latest "bead" purchase.
Finally last night myself and Fiona were able to meet up and "play around" with our new beads and stuff. The fruits of Fiona's labour is shown above in the picture of the "Lola Rose" style bracelets - hope you like them. At present we only have black and pink roses but have pewter, pale pink and pink beads.
Our other creation is a small red patterned teddy and heart key ring as shown above also, however, we are looking at adding another charm or similar to enhance this lovely little item further.
Well it is only a few weeks to the Craft fair at SECC, that is a day that I look forward to and even more this year as I am going to scour the bead stalls and see what we can pick up for our next projects. According to the fashion magazines, this year is the year for chunky charm bracelets so
will be looking in to making some of these over the coming months.
Valentines day is fast approaching and I have made a few cards - I may send one to Alan but the main user of these will be my son, I think he got 3 cards last year and a cuddly monkey which to this day usually goes to bed with him .. awww
Talking of bed it is time to get him ready so I will sign off and please let me know if you would like any further information/prices on any of the items you see on here.

New Year ... New Me

Well it been a couple of weeks since I last blogged and whilst I have not done anything that would set the world on fire I have made a few lifestyle changes.

Firstly, I have started Zumba with Lorraine on a Tuesday night in Mid Calder - whilst I am not the quickest at picking up routines and always seem to use the opposite legs/feet to everyone else I am actually really enjoying it .... and it must be good for me!!!

Secondly, I have decided that I will do the 5K Race for Life run this May, never done anything like this before but have enlisted the help of my 7 year old son to get me through it. It must be the "Life begins at 40" gene that has spurred me on to do this - mind you I hit that a few years ago, must be a slow developer!!!

Again I am trying to plan our annual works "girlie" weekend away. Each year myself and my colleagues go away to different parts of the country and have lots of fun without our children - shopping, Wii games, board games and a few drinks of course. Well, this year I have put it to my colleagues to go to Centre Parcs in Cumbria where we can take on a few activities ie roller blading (mind you I am likely to spend more time on my butt) but the piece de resistance is the spa experience - fabulous, 3 hours of total relaxation and de-stressing.

Our craft classes have restarted and we are trying our hand at making small photo/memory books which would make excellent presents for Mothers Day (will post pics when done). We have also tried embossing old drinks cans after they been cut and washed, they work well and produce some good results as well as doing our bit for the environment - thanks to Fi for this tip.

Off the the spa at the EICA tomorrow morning with my mum, it generally not busy in the morning and usually have the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room to ourselves but then again it may be busier tomorrow with a lot of people trying their New Year Resolutions.....

A Few to start with ....

It's official we are now in 2011 - Happy New Year to everyone and I hope you have a healthy and prosperous one.

We have seen a good thaw over the last 10 days or so and long may it continue, although there have been parts of Scotland that have seen some more snowfall today, think that mainly on the west coast.

Finally today I was able to hoover the car - god was it every dirty - not like my car at all. Then I washed the outside only discover under all the dirt and salt a lovely scratch and small dent on passenger side - it wasn't me so can only assume that someone slid into my car during the snow and ice - probably outside my work as the car is parked generally on the main road - boo. Will have to speak nicely to our smart repair guy at work and see what he can do with it.

As stated in my last blog it is my intention to have a portfolio of cards and jewellery readily available for sale this year. Well I have started on the cards and have made a few Thank You and Baby Girl cards during the past couple of nights - (photos uploaded - hopefully).

I haven't started on any new jewellery projects yet as I am needing to order more supplies off the internet and have been waiting until all the backlog of post has been sorted.

Hopefully, I will resume my craft classes this Wednesday where I will discuss the next step of my jewellery making with Fiona and see whether she had any luck selling the last few pieces left over from our craft fair at her work.

It's back to work for me tomorrow, Alan on Thursday and then schools back next Monday - yeah back to normal.

Welcome

This is my first attempt at setting up a blog so please bear with me.

Well we are nearly at the end of 2010 and it has been a year full of challenges, some more difficult to overcome than others.

However, it has been a year where I have learned new crafting skills including jewellery making. I attended my first craft fair in November with my craft "buddy" Fiona and we now hope to expand on this next year.
